Through the Water
๐ Exodus 14-17
The Israelites Walk Through the Sea!
The Israelites had just left Egypt, but they weren't safe yet.
Pharaoh changed his mind again! He sent his whole army โ hundreds of chariots and soldiers โ racing after them. The Israelites looked around and saw they were trapped. There was a huge sea in front of them and the army behind them.
Everyone was scared. "What do we do?"
Moses said, "Don't be afraid. Stand still and watch what God will do."
The Sea Opens Up
God told Moses to hold his rod out over the water. Then God sent a strong wind that blew all night long. By morning, the sea had split in two! There were walls of water on the left and right, and a dry path down the middle.
The Israelites walked right through โ with water standing up like walls on both sides. Can you imagine walking between two giant walls of water?
When the Egyptian army tried to follow, the water came crashing back. The Israelites were safe!
Manna from Heaven
After they crossed the sea, the Israelites walked into the wilderness. Soon they ran out of food. They were hungry and worried.
God sent them something special: every morning, a white flaky food appeared on the ground. It tasted like honey wafers. They called it manna โ which means "What is it?"
God gave them rules:
- Gather only what you need for today
- On the sixth day, gather enough for two days
- Don't try to save extra โ trust that more will come tomorrow
God was teaching them to trust Him every single day!
Water from a Rock
Later, there was no water anywhere. The people were so thirsty.
Moses asked God what to do. God told Moses to take his rod and hit a big rock. Moses obeyed โ and water came gushing out! Everyone got to drink.
God always provided what they needed, right when they needed it.

Your Mission This Week: Every morning this week, say a prayer thanking Heavenly Father for what you need that day โ like the Israelites gathered manna for just one day at a time. Try not to worry about tomorrow. Trust that God will help you then, too!
Family Activity: Make "manna" together! Mix some honey and crushed crackers or use honey cereal. As you eat it, talk about how the Israelites woke up every morning to find food waiting for them. How does Heavenly Father give us what we need each day?
