The Tabernacle Completed

This week, the people of Israel built the tabernacle.

The tabernacle was a special tent where they could worship God. It was not just any tent. It was made carefully, exactly the way God told Moses to make it.

The people brought gifts to help build it โ€” gold, silver, cloth, wood, oil, and spices. They gave so much that Moses finally had to tell them to stop bringing things. Imagine that. There was more than enough.

Some people were especially good at building and sewing and working with tools. Two men named Bezaleel and Aholiab were filled with God's Spirit so they could design, carve, and teach others how to help. God blessed them and helped them use those talents to make something holy.

When everything was finished, something wonderful happened. A cloud covered the tabernacle, and the glory of the Lord filled it. That meant God accepted their work and would be with His people. He did not come while they were still planning. He came after the work was done.

Then in Leviticus, God taught the people that being holy is not only about the tabernacle. It is also about the way we live every day โ€” telling the truth, being fair, loving others, and remembering God.

God cares about worship. And He also cares about how we treat people.

Family Activity

Build a Mini Tabernacle

You'll need: blankets or sheets, chairs, and a flashlight.

  1. Use chairs and blankets to build a little tent.
  2. Sit inside together and talk about why the tabernacle was special.
  3. Ask: "What gifts did the people bring?" and "How can we make our home feel like a place where God is welcome?"
  4. Turn on the flashlight inside the tent and talk about God's light and presence.

Finish by thanking God for the talents He gives each family member.
