Moses 1; Abraham 3: God Knows Your Name

What if someone came up to you and called you by the wrong name?

That's basically what happened to Moses.

Moses had just had the most amazing experience of his life. God talked to him! God showed him beautiful things. Moses felt more loved than he ever had.

Then, when God left, someone else showed up. It was Satan. And Satan said something sneaky: he called Moses "son of man"—like Moses was just ordinary, just a regular person, nothing special.

But Moses remembered what God had told him just a little while ago: You are my son.

Moses said, "I am a son of God!" He told Satan to go away. And Satan did.

Moses knew who he was—because God had told him.

Abraham and the Stars

Abraham also learned something amazing. God showed him all the stars in the sky. There were so many that Abraham couldn't count them. Then God showed Abraham something even more amazing: all the people who lived before the world was made!

And God told Abraham: You were one of them. I knew you before you were born.

That's true for you too. God knew you before you were born. He knows your name. He loves you. That's not something anyone can take away.

Your Mission This Week 🙏

Moses remembered what God said about him, even when someone tried to tell him something different. This week, when something makes you feel bad about yourself, try to remember: God knows your name. God loves you. You are His child. That's the real truth about who you are.

Ask a parent or older sibling to read Moses 1:6 with you. That verse is God speaking to Moses—and in a way, to you too.
