Before There Was Genesis
Moses 1: The Beginning That Got Lost
Have you ever walked into a movie after it already started?
Everyone around you seems to know what's happening. But you missed the beginning, so nothing quite makes sense yet.
Reading the Bible without Moses 1 feels like that.
The Lost Beginning
For a long, long time, most people didn't have Moses 1. It got lost somewhere in history. But God showed it to Joseph Smith when the Church was just getting started. And now we have it back.
In Moses 1, God talks to Moses face to face on a mountain. He shows Moses the whole earth and all the worlds He made. Then God tells Moses something important:
"This is my work and my glory — to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man." (Moses 1:39)
That means: God's whole purpose is to help all of His children come back to live with Him forever.
That's what the whole Bible is about!
Moses Stands Strong
Moses finds out that he is a son of God. That's huge. Then Satan shows up and tries to trick him.
Satan says: you're nobody. Forget what God told you.
But Moses remembers. He says: I know I am a son of God. You have no place here.
Satan has to leave.
Knowing who you are is one of the most powerful things you can know. Moses knew, and it made all the difference.

Your Mission This Week
Read Moses 1:39 out loud with your family. Then talk about this question together:
What is one thing God is doing in our family right now to help us live with Him forever?
Write down what your family comes up with — then put it somewhere you can see it this week.
